Redefining Real-World Data: How Datavant Scales Medical Record Retrieval for Complete, Connected Insights

Modern medical record retrieval is transforming real-world evidence. Datavant’s approach combines nationwide reach, deep data connectivity, and high record yields to deliver comprehensive, research-ready datasets.

Datavant’s latest piece explores how modern medical record retrieval is unlocking the “last mile” of real‑world data (RWD) — delivering complete, patient‑level clinical records that fill critical gaps in traditional data sources.

Powered by digital workflows and deep connectivity, Datavant’s platform now retrieves tens of millions of full medical charts annually. It offers nationwide coverage, linking records from 40% of U.S. health systems via badge access and scaling seamlessly across the rest, consistently achieving record yields above 80%.

This capability supports a wide range of applications — from post‑market safety studies and rare disease registries to trial enrichment and long‑term outcomes research — delivering richer, research‑ready datasets for real‑world evidence. By combining scale, data depth (e.g., physician notes, imaging, immunizations), and regulatory-grade robustness, Datavant is redefining how clinical research leverages comprehensive RWD to accelerate insights and improve patient care.
